Safety-First Approach

Health and safety at workplace are our top priorities

Safety is a major part of our company culture at Painters Inc. Workplace safety measures are well documented in various policies and procedures, but when it comes to compliance and following standards, Painters Inc. leads by example.

Safety training is an ongoing process at Painters Inc., where our crew members are always up to date on the latest tools and techniques that keep them and everyone around them safe as they provide exemplary painting services.

Our certifications & training:

  • OSHA Certified Company
  • EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm
  • Aerial Lift Certification
  • Swing Stage Certification

OSHA certified company

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was formed to assure the safety and health of America’s workers by setting and enforcing standards. Painters Inc. embraces all OSHA standards and is equally committed to educating our workers.

We make sure our employees are equipped to handle all hazards associated with every type of structure they work in. In fact, we’ve established a comprehensive health and safety program that all of our employees go through to ensure they’re armed with the knowledge they need to remain safe regardless of the type of facility they’re painting.

OSHA

Our company is proud to be an OSHA-certified commercial painting contractor in the Chicago area.

Our commitment to training our employees about safety has a positive side effect – it keeps our costs down. Accidents don’t only hurt morale, they can hurt the bottom line due to higher insurance and liability premiums. When we remain accident free, we can pass those savings on to our customers.

Being OSHA certified not only keeps our painters safe, it also protects anyone we come in contact with on a jobsite. Everything from moving equipment to ventilating the workplace is covered in our safety best practices, so when you partner with Painters Inc., you know you’re getting a contractor that has thoroughly thought through every potential hazard and is fully compliant with all safety rules and regulations.

EPA lead-safe certified firm

Despite the fact that lead-based paint has been banned since 1978, our workers who sand, cut and sometimes demolish parts of structures can come into contact with old lead-based paint. To stay safe, our crews are trained and certified on the correct procedures for handling hazardous products. They know exactly how to contain these materials to the immediate work area and keep dust from coming in contact with other areas of the facility they’re painting. This helps to keep them and everyone around them safe.

EPA

As a Certified Lead-Safe Firm by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Painters Inc. is a go-to contractor in the Chicago area.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a rule commonly referred to as the RRP Rule, which stands for Ren to safely handle lead-based paint. Our painters are trained by EPA-approved trainers, making us uniquely suited to provide services where hazardous materials are present. With our OSHA and EPA certifications, our clients can be confident that their lead-based paint and other types of hazardous materials will not have a negative impact on the outcome of their painting project.

Painters Inc.’s safety-first approach

While we’re committed to exceeding the expectations of our customers, we’re equally focused on doing the job safely. We’ve made safety part of our company culture, and it shows in the lack of accidents our professionals suffer.

Our commitment to safety extends to our focus on the environment. We have embraced environmental safety programs and developed a set of principles that are unwavering. Whether it’s disposing of old hazardous material or working with toxic cleaners and various other material that can be an environmental hazard, we make sure all OSHA and EPA guidelines are followed.

When you partner with Painters Inc., you’re partnering with a contractor that is 100 percent focused on achieving a record of zero accidents involving humans or the environment.

Our safety procedures include the following:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including protective clothing, eye protection, hearing protection and respirators are kept in excellent condition or replaced frequently so our painters are always protected. PPE is often the first line of protection that keeps our employees safe.
  • Working on and around ladders and scaffolding requires its own set of rules and regulations that Painters Inc. follows. Fall protection is also a vital piece of the puzzle that protects our painters and everyone in the general area.
  • Every job is completely inspected to make sure every standard and regulation is being followed. We frequently review the health and safety precautions on each jobsite and immediately red flag an issue when it is recognized.
  • Many of our clients operate facilities where volatile organic compounds found in some paints are simply not allowed. Fortunately, we have amassed years of experience working with paints from many different suppliers and we have identified high-quality low- and no-VOC paints that we utilize when this type of product is required.
  • Painting contractors work with many hazardous substances that must be disposed of properly. At Painters Inc., we know how to handle asbestos, lead paint, solvents and other materials that must be disposed of in a way that will not harm people or the environment.
  • Safety education is an ongoing process at Painters Inc. It’s not something that’s covered once and never talked about again. To be fully committed to preventing injury or sickness, painters must be continually exposed to new information, tools and techniques for staying safe in the workplace.

Accountability has also had a place within our company culture, which means that not only are all of our employees trained and certified on safety issues, they are managed by professionals who monitor their actions on the jobsite. In fact, our certified supervisors will coordinate and manage daily painting activities in an effort to make sure everything goes as smoothly and safely as possible.

With the right on-site supervision, we continue to allow our culture of safety blossom. This is no small feat, because the rules set forth by the EPA and OHSA are actually quite complex. We frequently review our approach to ensure that we’re staying in compliance with every regulation, no matter how seemingly minute.

For proof that our focus on safety has been embedded in our company culture, look no further than the number of our employees who have stepped up to offer safety tips of their own that can help us more efficiently deal with potential hazards and avoid accidents/injury. We entertain every suggestion, as it often leads to safer practices.

If you’re looking for a painting contractor that is committed to safety and compliance, know that Painters Inc. sets the bar very high.

Regardless of the size and scope of a painting project, everyone involved needs to be out of harm’s way and the environment should always be protected. We use local, state and federal guidelines to measure our policies and continually train our employees about safety, handling toxic/hazardous materials and being mindful of the environment.

It’s our responsibility to be aware of the risks that are specific to the painting industry, and staying abreast of all the safety issues helps us promote a healthier, safer work environment. If you have concerns regarding safety in your facility, reach out to us and let’s discuss how we’ll handle them.

"Great company: expert suggestions; reasonable proposals; wonderful staff; high quality work; and safe, reliable service."

We are an insured contractor

Despite the fact that Painters Inc. has enjoyed an incident and accident free record for many years, we recognize the importance of being insured. Whether you’re working with us or another contractor, make sure they are insured. The priorities are often finding a contractor that fits your budget and has a list of references that prove they’re good at what they do, but don’t forget to check their insurance coverage.

The two basic types of insurance all painting contractors should have includes general liability insurance and workers compensation insurance. General liability will cover damage that occurs to a structure while it is being painted. Whether it’s a fall or a spill, accidents happen, so when your property is damaged, the insurance will cover the cost. Workers compensation insurance basically shows that the contractor is looking out for their employees, but it also protects you from lawsuit should a painter be injured while working in your facility.

At Painters Inc., we lead by example and are completely covered with insurance plans that protect our employees and our clients.

The insurance includes the following:

  • Employer’s liability insurance
  • Workers compensation
  • Commercial auto insurance

Safe painting services from responsible company

Keeping an eye on issues that impact safety is as important as focusing on using the right paints, the right tools and honing our painting techniques. At Painters Inc., we’re proud of our approach to safety and promoting the safety culture throughout our organization.

Our clients benefit from our approach because they can rest assured that their project will be completed on time and without incident, which means no downtime and no mess. And again, because we have remained incident and injury free for so long, our insurance premiums have not been inflated, which means we can continue to offer premium services at a competitive price.
